Boys Basketball Fight Till the End of Their Season

By Alexa Davis

After a tough season Greenwood pulls out an important win against Warren Central on Friday February 19th, “It was one of the biggest win of the season, it meant a lot because it was so close to district.” says senior captain Stephen Sanders. He shot 49% off the floor and had 5.8% on average rebounds, this is his first year as captain but has played varsity for Greenwood since his freshman year. “I’m very sad for the end of the season , it will kill me not being able to play basketball anymore.” he says when asked about the end of the season “ It helps ending the season game play with a win though.”

The boys played South Warren in district play and put up a valiant fight but fell short four points in the end , the score 70-66. South Warren came out of the gate strong and in control and started with an eight point lead, but Dawson Crump helped light the spark  within the team and the gators dominated in the second quarter. Junior Dawson Crump and senior Stephan Sanders lead Greenwood in scoring with 21 points each. The game ended their season with a record of 12-18. The boys ended their season on a high emotion game that was a hard loss, but there is always next season for our gators.
