Basketball season tips off

The boys basketball team has been getting warmed up for their new season. On November 18, they hosted the annual Meet the Gators Night at home, where they split into two teams for a scrimmage to get the team and the fans hyped for the season to come.

The Gators lost two high-scoring seniors, Alex Schneller and Jonathan Lewis, but we still have some top scorers returning. Dawson Crump, who last year was the second-leading scorer, is returning and will be looked at to lead this year’s team.

Greenwood’s team this year is full of returning seniors, including Caleb Miller, Bradley Burgess, Scotty Harris, Tanner South, and Stephan Sanders. That is five seniors that will hopefully bring some experience and wisdom to the team this season.

Last year they finished with a record of 9-19, but second-year coach Jordan Carter’s Gators are looking to improve that record in a big way. Their first chance at game action is Dec. 1, when they host a non-conference game against Hopkinsville.
