Annual Mum Sales

Annual+Mum+Sales

By Madison Duncan, Reporter

The FFA is selling mums to help with fundraising for the year. These sales will go back to our FFA to help with different trips and items that the club will need during the year. Each member is asked to sell a minimum of ten mums but you are welcome to sell many more. However, selling ten will guarantee you a spot on the field trip to the North American Rodeo in Louisville during November. The top three seller this year will get $100 and the absolute top seller will get the opportunity to go to National Convention in October free of charge. Mr. Tipton and Mr. Goins are hoping to sell enough mums this time to cancel out having to sell fruit this year.

The mums this year are from the same grower as our previous years. The selling points for these mums are that they are only $12, you could get smaller mums from Lowe’s and they would be almost $20. They are also huge in diameter. Ranging anywhere from 25”-30”. The grower also informed us that they are beautiful and coming in many different colors, which include: orange, red, yellow, white, purple, white with yellow in the middle, white with a daisy look, and coral. Every year our mums are much larger than all the other surrounding high schools and garden shops.

Even if you are not a member of the FFA you can still help with mums! If you know someone who wants mums you can get a form from Mr. Goins or Mr. Tipton and collect their money and turn the form in or you can find someone else who is selling mums and make the connection. Every mum that the club sells counts. The only thing you have to do is to sell the mums, once they are delivered the buyers will receive a call to come and pick them up by the Ag shop and choose which ones they want. The mums are set to arrive on the 20th of September so if you have any questions you can see Mr. Tipton or Mr. Goins in the Ag hallway between classes or you can email Mr. Tipton. The sales end on September 17th, so get to selling Gators!
