New Leadership Takes Over GSA, Results are Overwhelming.

By Destiny Sears, Reporter

By definition, GSA or Gay-straight alliance is a student-led or community-based organization. It is found mainly in middle and high schools across the United States and Canada. It is meant to provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ youth to meet, support each other, talk about issues related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and work to end homophobia and transphobia altogether.

Greenwoods GSA, which is located in room 181, was formed in 2017 by Angelina Addams, it was reported to have about 30 students in total. Club leaders this year have already spoke about trying to get a larger space to meet in with an estimated 50+ students who showed up to the first meeting.

As of right now we are planning to take part in The Bowling Green Pride Festival on October 21st and the club leaders are meeting with faculty and staff to try and organize a pride week here at the school. We will also be doing charity work through fundraisers and a couple of other things which are being discussed among club leaders.

GSA is still open to anyone who would like to join, the next meeting will be on the 21st of September.
