The art and choir department will hold a free special showcase at 6:00 p.m. on April 23rd to show off talented students’ work. Ranging from beautiful drawings to ear-catching vocals, the evening will be rife with gasps of admiration and harmonizations. So, how did this event come together?
According to Mrs. Willett of the art department at Greenwood, “Years ago, when she and I (Mrs. Sells) first came to Greenwood, I realized that she was having a concert kind of close to the same night as my art show. So, the very next year, we decided that it was a great idea to combine both events into one night to draw more attendance to the arts here at Greenwood.” When Willett spoke about her expectations for the show, she said, “I had everything broken down into categories like drawing, painting, 3-D, and other categories for the artwork to be judged. Then, we have first, second, and third place for every category. I always had guest judges come in and judge, so there’s no biased selection, and then we have one overall best in show for the actual full show.” She also said that around 100-200 pieces will be put on display.
The event is free, and doors will open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 23rd, and the event will last until about 8:00. Anyone and everyone is welcome.
