Eminem Performs at Oscars After 17 Years

Eminem won an Oscar for his song “Lose Yourself” in 2003, but he didn’t show up to receive the award. You might ask why didn’t he show up to the Oscars?

Eminem didn’t show up to the Oscars because he really didn’t think that he would win and wasn’t in the mindset of winning becuase he states “I don’t know that I was disappointed, I was blown back by the fact that I won. I don’t even think I understood back then that you could get an Oscar for a song, and I remember being kinda confused about why I was even up for one, because as a kid with the Oscars, it was like a vacuum.”

Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, had performed “Lose Yourself” at the Grammy’s that year, but Marshall never thought that the Oscars would even look at him and his song, but they noticed him from the movie 8 Mile and had given Marshall the title of Best Original Song.

During this year’s Oscars, a tribute was made for the past Best Original Songs and 8 Mile was included because of the song “Lose Yourself.” and Eminem must be there to perform that song since he wasn’t there to perform that song back in 2003 when he won.
