Greenwood Fashion Trends from Chokers to Chacos

1. Chacos

Chacos are a brand of sandals that became popular for their intended outdoor and water use, although many students wear them to school if weather permits during the warmer months. The Chacos company has a variety of sandals with different colors and styles. The shoes consist of many straps that tighten different ways to fit the specific shape of your foot. This is one of the many reasons they were the most popular sandal worn last year.

2. Chokers

Chokers are a type of necklace that fits closely around a person’s neck. These became popular towards the end of last year, starting with the basic black choker. After that, stores starting selling variations of chokers with different colors, fabrics, and lengths. Many people are now choosing chokers over the traditional statement necklaces.

3. Patagonias

Patagonia is a designer of outdoor clothing and gear for the silent sports such as climbing, surfing, skiing and snowboarding, fly fishing, or trail running. The clothing company started in 1972. Patagonia is known for their pullovers, which are available in many different designs and colors. Both boys and girls wear them during the colder months of school as a regular jacket.  The company also manufactures other types of clothing.

4. Pearl Jewelry

Another very popular jewelry trend that has surfaced in the past year is the pearls on leather.  It began with the Seaside pearl neckla
ces and bracelets that girls would bring home from their vacation at the quaint sea village. The original necklace consists of a single pearl and a short, brown, leather string. To match this, girls will tend to wear giant pearl earrings. Eventually stores sold cheaper necklaces that resembled these Seaside necklaces. They also created different variations of the necklace consisting of multiple pearls.  You can wear the necklace with essentially anything.

5. T-shirt Dresses

Although the name suggests otherwise, don’t worry, t-shirt dresses aren’t actually just long t-shirts girls are wearing. They are dresses designed like a shirt and are typically cut without a seam at the waist. Most girls enjoy wearing them because they are typically more comfortable than other dresses. Although t-shirt implies that they are short sleeved, there are also some that are long sleeved so they are in season all year long.

6. Man Buns

A man bun is a type of hairstyle that started with men who tied their hair at the back of their head into a bun. It then began to become a popular hairstyle among girls who would take half of their hair and tie it up into a “man bun”. Many people have different opinions about the hairstyle, some love it, some would rather see the trend end as soon as possible on both men and women. Either way, it is an easy fix for the occasional bad hair day.

7. Converse

Converse, also known as Chuck Taylors, are a brand of casual shoes that have been around since the early 1900’s. They were very popular for many sports, especially basketball, and have just recently become very popular among both boys and girls. Many girls will wear them with any type of outfit, especially the cuffed jeans. The high top design has taken precedent in the past year especially in white, grey, and black. The low tops are still very popular and can be seen all around school in all different colors.

8. Lokai Bracelets

Lokai bracelets is a brand that have the purpose of reminding the person wearing them of both the good and bad in life. The bracelet uses mud from the Dead Sea in a bead on one side, and on the opposing side a bead holds water from Mount Everest. This represents the highest and lowest parts of the earth. They became very popular among girls around school and come in three different sizes. Many off brands copied the look of the bracelet but didn’t capture the same idea because of the lack of water and mud infused. Either way the look has become an essential piece of jewelry to own for many.
