On May 16th, 2017, while the rapper know as XXXTentacion or X was locked up, his record label at the time Empire Distribution released an EP called Revenge. Revenge was released so that the fans would have something while they waited for X to get out of jail, the EP contained eight songs that had been released previously by X. The track list was as following Look at me, I don’t wanna do this anymore, Looking for a star, King, valentine, Slipknot, Yung Bratz, and RIP Roach.

Look at me!(EXPLICIT)

Look at me! was the first song on the EP, and this was one of X’s big hits when he was starting out, to most this was probably the first X song that they remember listing to. Look at me was released December 30th, 2015, but gained popularity in 2017 where it hit #34 on the billboard top 100 in 2017 and it stayed on the charts for 20 weeks straight. The song was a huge hit with fans and new people coming into his music, but when he released his look at me music video that had some clips from his Riot music video he sparked controversy when in one of the shots he is shown helping fit a noose around a young white child the later hanging him slowing till he goes limp. Many people did not like this but he later explained that he was trying to demonstrate what the lasting effects on future generations would be if we didn’t change our violent ways. Look at me is one of his biggest songs and if you wanna listen to something that is gonna hype you up or if you just wanna go deaf just listen to Look at me!.

I Don’t Wanna Do This Anymore(EXPLICIT)

I don’t wanna do this anymore was the second song on the EP, it was released in April 14th, 2017. The song has is a great song if you are feeling down, and if you don’t mind some sad and dirty lyrics you should give I don’t wanna do this anymore a listen.

Looking for a star

Looking for a star is the third song on the EP and was released on May 17th, 2017, the song was X’s first attempt at a pop song. With Diplo providing the sample and X coming up with the lyrics about how he was still pretty sad after his breakup with his ex-girlfriend Geneva who accused him of domestic violence while they where together. X and Diplo made the song and it sounded like most of the pop songs that were out at the time. The song has a vibe that you could get from any pop song but it had X’s lyrics and meaning at the same time which a lot of fans enjoyed, if you like pop songs and some deep lyrics you should give this one a listen.

Valentine

Valentine is the fourth song on the Revenge EP, it was released on march 28th, 2016, I could not find much on Valentine, but the song is slow and calming. Valentine is one of those songs that you could listen to just relax and take a breather from all of your problems.

King

King if the fifth song on the EP, it was released April 25th, 2016, the song was written when he got his first arrest warrant. Some think that the song may have been a apology, but I really don’t know because if you pay close attention to the lyrics you can hear how hurt he sound. The song starts somewhat calm and chill in the beginning, but slowly increases speed and volume slowly. This is because the song has the lyrics over and heavy metal inspired instrumental. If you want a song that will help drown the outside noise and just let you be alone with your thoughts then you should give it a listen.

Slipknot(EXPLICIT)

Slipknot if the sixth song on the EP, it was released on April 18th, 2017, slipknot was not only on the Revenge EP but it was also featured on members only vol 3 that was released June 26, 2017. Slipknot is a song where you can hear X reflect on his past and his action, he talks about things that would land him in jail, and he shows how he loves and cherished his mother even after what she had done and how he is sorry for being a tough child to raise, the song features P.soul as the producer, Killstation, and Kin$oul.

YuNg BrAtZ(EXPLICIT)

YuNg BrAtZ is the seventh song on the EP, it was released on july 4th, 2016, YuNg BrAtZ was made to insult the guy who jumped him and tried to pull out a gun on X. The song is very aggressive and filled with insults towards the man who X fought off and destroyed, this song has some pretty strong lyrics and is not meant for the faint of heart but if you don’t care about the lyrics then you should give it a listen.

R.I.P Roach(EXPLICIT)

R.I.P Roach was the final song on the Revenge EP, released May 12, 2016, R.I.P Roach was a song made by Ski mask the slump god and it featured X. They released it on the EP, and they dedicated the songs tittle to a friend of X nicknamed Roach who was found murdered. The song has a feel that is found in YuNg BrAtZ, Look at me, and King. R.I.P Roach has some of the best that the duo have to offer and it’s a good ending to the Ep, R.I.P has to be one of the best from the EP.

Even though X wasn’t able to release his EP himself, the EP was still a pretty good mix of songs from X and his features. If any of these sounded good or peaked your interest, you should 100% check them out even if they don’t sound good to you, you might find one that you like or somewhat enjoy.
