Nine Efficient Studying Tips

By Kaydyn Massey, Reporter

As we all know, the end of the year is drawing near and people are going to start getting stressed over finals and End of Course testing. Students all over the nation will be trying to study efficiently to get a good grade. Most of these tests will decide if they are ready to move on to the next grade level. That is a lot of pressure for one student, but if you know a good way to study then they won’t have to worry as much. People all over the world come up with great studying tips, let’s look at nine efficient studying tips.

1. Take good notes

When in class, make to sure write down anything that will help you study for the test. Pay attention to what the teacher is saying. If there is anything that will be a major part in the test, make sure to write down as many helpful notes on that particular topic.

2. Make and keep a study schedule

If you make and keep a study schedule, you’re bound to get a good grade. Make sure to pick a location and stick with the same location each time.

3. Draw out a good amount of time to study

Don’t study for three hours straight, instead split up the time into smaller sections. You could study after lunch for 20 minutes and study before you go to bed for 10 minutes. Break it down so it will be easier for you. Do it each day for repetition.

4. Pick a quiet place

When studying it is going to be easier for you to pick a place where not a lot of people walk by. Also, tell people you are studying so they don’t come in and disrupt the time you have set to study.

5. Be organized

Being organized will help you study efficiently. Finding papers you need for more material about a certain topic will be much easier. You could organize your papers by subject, and if you want to go even further with it you could organize them by unit. Being organized will also prevent you from being distracted by having to clean up a mess during your study time.

6. Have someone review material with you

Have someone quiz you before the test. If you can find another student who needs to study the same material, then that will benefit both of you, a win-win. Quizzing each other will help you remember material that you don’t know or don’t understand very well.

7. Ask the teacher about anything you don’t understand

The teacher is there to teach you and help you understand the material they are teaching. If you don’t understand something, ask them for help. It would be pointless to take a test over material you don’t understand.

8. Listen to Music

Music stimulates the brain. Studies have shown that music you prefer while studying you will do better on test, or quiz. If you want to do well, listen to music you like, not something you don’t.

9. Put aside any distractions

Today’s teens spend a lot of time on their phones. When studying, put away your phone and any other devices that can distract you from studying. If you have a dog, put it in another room, or give it something to do like chew on a bone.

When you study for quiz, or test your grade should increase after using these tips. Good luck on your test or quiz.
