Band Program Presents an Amazing Concert

 March 31st held the annual band concert here at Greenwood High School. Greenwood Band Directors Brian Morrison and Nick Collar having been working extremely hard to prepare and help the students make an eventful night for everyone!

 The first band that performed is the combined sixth-grade band. This band holds a combination of Alvaton’s, Briarwood’s, Cumberland Trace’s, and Natcher’s band programs, which is all directed by Mr. Morrison. This group performed “Old Mcdonald Had a Band” by John Higgins and “Beethoven’s Ninth” by Ludwig Van Beethoven, but used the arrangement by Paul Lavender.

 The next group to perform was Drakes Creek’s seventh grade band. This band is directed by Sheila Smalling from Drakes Creek. Their performance included “Baywood Overture” by James Swearingen and

Cha Cha Del Sol” by Frode Thingnæs.

 The following performance included the Drakes Creek’s eighth grade band. This group is also directed by Sheila Smalling from Drakes Creek. Their song choices included “Trails of Glory” by James Swearingen and “Emblem of Victory” by Elliot Del Borgo.

 The next band to perform is Greenwood’s Concert Band. This band is directed by Mr. Collar. Their song choices included “Creed” by William Hines and “Shenandoah“ arranged by Frank Ticheli.

  The final Greenwood band to perform was wind ensemble, which is conducted by Mr. Morrison. Their songs included “Liadov Fanfare” by Brian Beck and “Salvation is Created” arranged by Bruce Houseknecht.

 Concluding the concert was all the bands combined. The song the bands performed was “Simple Gifts,” arranged by Johnnie Vinson.

 In the end, the band concert was amazing to listen to, creating a beautiful night filled with music! The students worked and continue to work very hard to make these concerts special for everyone.
