Bowling Rolling to an End

As the bowling season ends on an outstanding placement in the region tournament. For the girls Lawanda Johnson placed 6th with a total score of 862 which is only two points short from the 5th place score. Senior Shelby Handley placed in 13th place with a score of 469,according to Coach Foust multiple colleges are looking at Shelby to bowl at the next level. Shelby’s average for the season is 152 which is the second highest average on the team for girls. Victoria bucklew also placed in 40th place with Presleigh Jaggers behind her placing in 49th place. Girls got to semi final top 4, “This is the best showing up by a Greenwood team ever,” says coach Foust “ I was very proud of the girls team and Lawnda and Shelby. They met and passed my expectations for the year. Next year will be a rebuilding season with a lot of potential.”

The boys finished in the quarterfinals in the top 8 rank. Luke Clark finished first for greenwood ranking in 11th place, his season average for Greenwood was 174 which is the second highest rank at Greenwood.Austin Schneller placed in 33rd place in the region tournament, “ We got better as the season went on and gave a lot of the best teams in the region a run for their money. We had a lot of newcomers this year that stepped up and moved their way up the ranks of the team.” says Austin about the closing season. Braden Fowler finished in 41st place for Greenwood, he was the top scorer for Greenwood with an average of 201.

Now with the season over the team is preparing for next year. “ We will be looking for bowlers next year, we are losing a lot of seniors.” says coach Foust about the coming season. Austin also gave a sentimental thanks to their parting seniors, “A special thanks to our seniors this year who have been very mature throughout the season and can be seen as people to look up to. ”
