Preparation Key for Successful Hunt

Most hunters spend months, sometimes even the whole year, getting ready for this season. Some have food plots that take proper care and lots of work to maintain. Others put out corn, apples, peaches, acorns, or anything else that will draw the animals out.

It sounds easy, but food can’t be put out once and expect the deer to come out. It takes the deer about a week or two to get used to going to that spot for food. Also, where there’s food, there’s usually a trail camera, a motion-sensor camera. These are very helpful, but every so often they have to be checked on to see if there is any activity where the food was put out.

But one of the most important factors of hunting is the deer stand. Almost every year they need to be moved, repaired, or another one has to be bought. If they start to rust, they have to be taken down, brought home, painted, and then put back up in the tree. Just maintaining one deer stand is hard work.

Depending on how many stands the hunter has, they’ll have to repeat this process about one to three times a year. However, some hunters want to save time and effort so after a stand if beyond repair, they’ll just replace it. That is the more expensive alternative, but it can be easier than repainting.

Furthermore, every hunter needs camouflage clothing. No matter where they are bought, they are always going to be very pricey. If someone is buying clothes for their first hunt they can spend almost a thousand dollars, and sometimes even more. It’s even worse if there is more than one person to shop for. There is an upside, however, once the clothes have been bought, they will last for years; so in the end, the money is well spent.

Every year there is a lot that goes into getting ready for hunting season. It doesn’t matter if it’s deer, turkey, grouse, rabbit; everything takes a lot of preparation.
