By Kolby Burtnett and Chad Van Wyk

Greenwood wins game against Graves County, and will Play Owensboro this Friday.

The Greenwood Gators finished their regular season with an 8-2 record, the best season they’ve had in recent years. Sophomore quarterback Jackson Adams came through and showed that he is a tremendous asset for our Gators. Jackson has 1,471 rushing yards with 23 rushing touchdowns.

Until Friday the Gators hadn’t won a playoff game in 4 years and hadn’t hosted one in 6.

“One can imagine how hungry the team was when it lined up against Graves County in the first round of the Class 5A Playoffs.” said Senior running back Noah Pillow. The Gators dominated both sides of the ball Friday night beating the eagles 38-6. Offensively, the Gators rushed for 357 yards and only 45 of those came from their leading rusher, sophomore quarterback Jackson Adams.

The Gators will take on the Owensboro Red Devils this Friday in Owensboro. The Red Devils are 10-1 in 5A. They are ranked second in 5A, while we are ranked seventh. If the Gators win the game on Friday they progress to the third round in playoffs.
