Best Horror Movie

By Andrew Carpenter, Reporter

We all know the feeling you get while you’re curled up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn cradled in your lap, waiting for the jump scare. The hairs on your arms standing straight up, and the butterflies fluttering in your stomach. There are a lot of horror movies out there, but which one makes you jump right out of your seat and sends chills down your spine?

Over the years horror movies have either been getting better or worse. In my opinion, the best horror movies were made in the 80’s and 90’s. Popular films such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and Candyman are known around the nation, these movies, I think, are the four best horror movies around. However, if you are more into recent horror movies then you would most likely have a different opinion. Recent films like The Purge, Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring, and Annabelle are some of the most well known horror movies of the 21st century. These four movies are full of jump scares, suspense, and action, perfect for any scary movie lover.

Out of all these movies I would The Conjuring is the best horror movie around. However, that is just my opinion. There are plenty of movies to choose from, but I would say The Conjuring has more suspense and jump scares than any other horror film. If you are not into those types of movies and you like gory, blood filled movies then you would most likely be interested in movies such as Saw and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
