Film version of “Fifth Wave” coming soon

By Megan McConnell

Based on Rick Yancey’s bestselling book, The Fifth Wave is coming to theaters January 15. With Chloë Grace Moretz playing as the main character in this alien apocalypse story, I think the film will be a fantastic adaptation from page to screen.

Moretz plays a girl named Cassie (Cassiopeia) Sullivan, who is a survivor of all four waves that came to destroy Earth. The first wave was the lights going out; the second wave was a deadly pandemic; the third was a monstrous tide; and the fourth was the silencers, aliens that look like humans and have come to earth to kill off the survivors.

Now, Cassie believes that the fifth wave is coming and this time, it might wipe out the remainder of the population. Having one mission–to get her brother back from the “people” that took him, she tries to survive in a world that could possibly be coming to an end.

Recently, the trailer for this upcoming film came out and it made me even more excited for its release. The voice-over (Cassie’s voice) was the only thing I really didn’t like about it because it made it seem like the movie was meant for a younger audience. I think that this film could be watched by anyone, but the way that the trailer  was made is going to make the people that watch it mostly teenagers.

However, the rest of it was amazing.  It showed some really intense scenes of the world falling to pieces and also we got to see most of the characters including Cassie’s family, her crush, and also Evan Walker, another guy she meets along her way. In my opinion, I think this movie is going to be a rollercoaster of emotions just like the book.
