The Zombies Are Back

The Walking Dead returned with a new season on October 11. The season six premiere ratings were high again. The Walking Dead was the Number 1 program on Sunday night, even topping NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” On social media, The Walking Dead was mentioned in nearly 1 million tweets Sunday (956,480).

The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, decided to make another show called Fear The Walking Dead, which had just ended the Sunday before The Walking Dead came back.

Greenwood senior Celeste Martinez was excited about the return on the show and about the new spin-off series. Even though the ratings slipped, Celeste thinks the quality of the show remains high.

“I feel as if the people who watch it just expect to see a bunch of people killing zombies, and that’s not what it’s about. It’s about the survival of a group of people that are trying to keep their humanity and have hope and still be able to live in the world where a bunch of zombies have taken over. I think they just think it’s about the zombies, but it’s not it’s more about the group’s survival.”

Celeste thinks the new show is worth a watch from loyal fans: “I did watch it, it’s another great show. I recommend it to everyone who likes The Walking Dead; they are sure to love Fear The Walking Dead as well.”

She urges fans of the original to be patient and let the new series develop. “I don’t think people should compare Fear and The Walking Dead together, Fear The Walking Dead just finished season 1, and The Walking Dead is already on Season 6,” said Celeste.

All in all,  The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead are excellent shows for fans of zombies, horror, or survival.
