2. A Thousand Nights- E.K. Johnston

-In this retelling of A Thousand and One Nights, the King, Lo-Melkhinn, has killed three hundred women while looking for a wife. When he comes to the village of the main character to take her sister, she takes her sister’s place and goes with the king instead, even though she knows what the risk is. Instead of dying however, she continues to wake up alive each morning and she has no clue why.

3. Romancing the Dark in the City of Light- Ann Jacobus
