During Club Rush at Greenwood High School this year, one club you could sign up for was FCCLA. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. This club is all about doing community service projects and planning fun events. Club members Lila Whittinghil, Ava Morrison, and Aubrey Zuccarell talked about what it’s like to be in FCCLA.
The first club member is Lila. She said what the club is all about, and she said that in the club, you get to do service projects and very fun activities to help out the community. She also talked about how in FCCLA, you get to do outside activities like going to the cemetery by Kereiakes Park. They put out fresh wreaths on the soldiers’ graves to commemorate them for their services. Lila’s favorite part of the club is the community because she likes all the people in the club.
The next club member Ava Morrison considering that she is a VP of Competitive Events, this means that she is in charge of all the star events in the club. Ava then said what the coolest thing to do in FCCLA is, and she said “Just going to star events with a bunch of my friends for a week and compete.” One of her favorite memories from FCCLA is also events like going to dances and parties, and also competing alongside her best friends.
The last club member was Aubrey Zuccarell, who was a member of FCCLA at Drakes Creek Middle School. She said that her favorite thing about FCCLA is the community service projects and planning FCCLA events like Dance Middle Red. Aubrey also said she joined again this year so she could be a part of more fun projects and set personal goals for herself. She also said that “a goal I have in FCCLA is to become an officer so I can have a stronger role in the club.”
Overall, these members of FCCLA love being involved in the club, and are so excited for a new year in FCCLA. With lots of new and already involved students to form an incredible community of people who love to do great acts of kindness in our society.
