One Year After Notre Dame Fire

By Una Wells, Reporter

April 15, 2019. On this day, one of our most historic buildings, The Notre Dame burnt down.

The Notre Dame Cathedral was completed in 1345 and although having to be restored throughout history and having renovations, it was still standing for a long time. The Notre Dame was the site for several royal weddings such as James V(King of Scotland) getting married there. It also withstood damage from both World Wars.

The fire in the historical site is believed to have been started by either an electricity malfunction or a smoldering cigarette however the fire reached the roof causing it to fall and spread the flames to the rest of the building.

Even though this disaster happened only about a year ago, plans for the site to be rebuilt are already made and they have intentions of it being rebuilt by 2024.
