Greenwood Strings orchestra Christmas Concert
December 14, 2018
At the beginning of this week on Tuesday, December 11th, the Greenwood high school strings orchestra and the Drakes Creek middle school had their Christmas Concert.
The middle school got to play first and performed the following songs…
- ‘Jolly Old Saint Nick’
- ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’
The first song, ‘Jolly Old Saint Nick’, was an iconic Christmas song everyone enjoyed. It was very upbeat and showed the perfect amount of holiday spirit.
The next song, ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’, was also a classic and had more of a strong vibe to it considering the contrast between the transitions.
Then soon after the high school played and performed the following songs…
- ‘Favorite Things’ from the Sound of Music
- ‘Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabelle’
These songs were two of the five they played on stage. ‘Favorite Things’ wasn’t necessarily a Christmas song but it was also a popular tune from the movie ‘The Sound of Music’. It was a very light-hearted piece and was overall one of my favorites.
The next song, ‘Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabelle’, wasn’t really a popular Christmas song but was very good in a sense that it had a lot going on. There were many different beats when it came to this song which made it very unique.
Let’s cheer on the Strings Orchestra with our holiday spirit and hope them the best of luck later on.
