Freshman KyACDA All-state Choir Updates
October 30, 2018
This weekend, there will be a 7th-9th grade all state choir held in Lexington.
The Kentucky American Choral Directors Association, (KyACDA) have given updates on the dress code and performances.
For the main performance, bring a white shirt and black dress pants. Men are expected to wear black dress shoes, while women must wear black closed toed shoes.
For the 1st performance, on Friday night, be sure to bring jeans with no holes. You will be given a KyACDA all state t-shirt to wear with this.
Don’t forget to bring water to each practice, along with all music in a black 3-ring binder and a pencil (no pens, notes are changed and rewritten constantly). These are the most vital things needed for practice; due to the infrequent, short breaks in between hours of rehearsal, it is hard to go get these things and return to the practice room in time.
To prepare for the performances, it is helpful to write in the solfege for each song to practice getting down the pitches. Also, practice the correct pronunciations for every song in foreign languages. The director will have final say in how he/she wants the words pronounced. You can also try as best as you can to get the rhythms correct.
