After coming off of a 3-0 win against Rowan County on Friday, October 26, in the first round of the KHSAA state volleyball tournament, the Greenwood volleyball team sadly fell short to Mercy.

Greenwood didn’t let Mercy win easily, though.

The nationally ranked team played Greenwood on Saturday, October 27, in Louisville.

After losing the first set 25-15, Greenwood battled back but sadly lost the second set 30-28.

“Emotionally, we were drained a bit but we were in it physically.” Greenwood’s volleyball coach Allen Whittinghill told the Bowling Green Daily News.

The Lady Gators lost the last set 25-9, ending their season in an impressive Elite Eight spot.

Katie Howard was named to the State All-Tournament team and Emmie Bender was named to the second State All-Tournament team by KVCA.

Congratulations to the volleyball team on such a successful season!
