What Could Happen if you Don’t get Vaccinated

For many years now people have decided to stop getting their children their vaccinations, due to  the rumors spreading all over.

Recently concerns have risen on vaccines after words that certain vaccines can give you cancer, can paralyze you, or have harsh ingredients that will negatively affect your body.

Although some of these people are against it because of their religion, their morals or just being unsure about what is in the vaccines or who the provider is.

In effect of the decrease of shots for children, diseases like Acute flaccid myelitis have sprouted again here in the United States.

The vaccines given to prevent this contains inactivated viruses that protects you from  polio virus, but does not protect you from viruses like AFM

Although there is no specific treatment or prevention for AFM ,doctors can recommend physical or occupational therapy to help with weak arms or legs.

Some symptoms of Polio or Flaccid Myelitis is usually arm or leg weakness and loss of muscle tone and reflexes, but in worse cases people could experience facial droop/weakness, difficulty moving the eyes, or difficulty with swallowing with slurred speech.

AFM can be difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are similar to other neurological diseases, such as Guillain-Barre syndrome, or acute disseminated encephalomyelitis

When doctors are attempting to see if you have polio or flaccid myelitis the diagnosis may include a physical exam, an MRI of the spine, and check on the responses of muscles.

There are some simple ways you can do to try and prevent this rare disease, first by keeping up to date on all you vaccines,  and of course wash your hands, don’t rely on hand sanitizer.

Try to protect yourself from insects like mosquitoes, by wearing bug repellent. Or keeping your everyday household objects clean and free of germs will decrease the possibility of you or your children getting this disease and spreading it further.
