College Basketball To Start Soon

By Jacks Lancaster, Reporter

It’s been since April since we have had the pleasure of watching NCAA basketball. That is all about to end.

The 2018-2019 season starts up in about two weeks on November 6. More than 100 teams will play on the 6th to kick off the season.

Powerhouse Teams

Going into the season, the top 5 teams are No. 1 Kansas, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Gonzaga, No. 4 Duke, and No. 5 Virginia. Each team has been solid in the past couple of years and great things are expected from each team this season as usual.

Surprisingly, Kentucky and Duke will play each other in the season opener in Indianapolis.

Big Games For Our Home Team

Dec. 22- Kentucky vs. UNC at Kentucky

Two big time schools going at it is going to be a good one to watch. One of the best SEC teams against one of the best ACC teams: That’s a perfect matchup. The last time they played, UNC won in the NCAA tournament in 2017. This one is probably going to be a toss-up based off talent, but UK will have the advantage of playing at home.

Dec. 29- Kentucky at Louisville

Huge rival right here. Kentucky’s team dominates Louisville based off talent, but U of L is at home. The two teams have had a history of going back and forth between winning, but Kentucky will probably cruise through this one though.

Jan. 19- Kentucky at Auburn

Auburn has always been a solid SEC team, but Kentucky has an overall record of 92-19 against Auburn. This game shouldn’t be too tough for the Wildcats.

Jan.26- Kentucky vs. Kansas at Kentucky

Kentucky will take on the Jayhawks who are the No.1 team going into the season. This one is going to be tough. The Wildcats have lost to Kansas in the previous three years, but UK is playing at home; hopefully they can pull it out.
