Michael Jordan VS LeBron James

There is a lot of controversy around who is the GOAT in the NBA. Some people may say Michael Jordan, others may say LeBron James. So who is the GOAT?

I think when you say GOAT in basketball you have to be great at every category. For example, you can’t just be good at scoring and not be able to pass. This is the reason why LeBron is the GOAT in my opinion. LeBron has the ability to do many different productive things on the court. For example, LeBron can score, pass, rebound, block, etc. On the other hand, Michael Jordan is mainly known for his ability to score and drop 50 points on a daily basis. Which is amazing. But I think LeBron is just too much to handle because of how he can control the game in many different ways.

When comparing the stats Michael Jordan averaged 30 points per game, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 2 steals. LeBron is averaging 27 points per game, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 2 steals. Based on these stats I believe that Jordan is more of a scorer and LeBron is an overall player rather than just having one strong suit like Jordan. Others may say that Jordan is 6-0 in the NBA Finals while LeBron who is currently 3-5. But Jordan did not go against a team like the Warriors who have 4 All-Stars. LeBron was able to beat a 73-9 Golden State Warriors team in the Finals in 2016, coming back from a 3-1 deficit.

LeBron has the ability to win with any team, while Michael Jordan was only 1-9 in the playoffs without Scottie Pippen. But this year LeBron carried a 4th seed Cleveland Cavaliers to the NBA Finals. That shows LeBron’s will to try to win no matter who is on the team. Nonetheless, Jordan was capable to beat any team with his spectacular scoring ability. But I think LeBron is still better than Jordan and should be considered the GOAT.
