Something Needs to Be Changed With Shootings

By Ben Smith, Reporter

This year alone there have been over 236 mass shootings in the country according to the Gun Violence Archive. Over 455 Children alone have been injured or even killed. Innocent children’s lives are being lost due to stupidity with guns. The things that are supposed to protect us the most are actually hurting us the most.

Something needs to be done with guns, if it comes to banning all of them to protect innocent lives then that’s what needs to be done. Imagine hearing the news that your little brother or your younger nephew was just injured in a shooting. In a shooting that could have been prevented.

This isn’t just a gun problem, this is a community problem. You can’t blame the Government for something you’re not trying to fix. We need to come together as a community, then a state, then we can come together as a Nation.
Talking about the problem will not fix the problem with mass shootings, school shootings, and gun violence. Our actions have to come together if we want change.

Certain guns like assault rifles and certain handguns need to be banned from certain people’s use. Why in the world would someone without an ID need an assault rifle or any gun? We let people get guns too easily without doing any background checks or any checks at all.

Not only do we need to ban certain guns but we need to start putting more money into our schools. Start gofundme’s for metal detectors, do things like car washes or selling certain things so our school could get more money so we don’t have to worry about this problem. Mr. Clayton has even went on a tax hike to try and raise more money to spend on school protection.

Our children shouldn’t have to worry about going to school. There children shouldn’t have to worry about going to school. No one should worry about going to a place where you’re supposed to be protected.

If we don’t do anything then the number of injuries and the number of Deaths will continue to rise. Teens and children will start fearing going to school not because of mean teachers or bad grades but because of being brutally murdered by a gun and watching your friends be murdered due to guns.
