Shooting at Florida Football Game

Not even a month into school and there is already a new shooting. This shooting however isn’t being noticed, it’s not even being classified as a school shooting, but as a targeted shooting even though it occurred at a school football game and on school grounds.

The shooting occurred this previous Friday, the 17th, and only two people were injured: a 39-year-old father, Daniel Foster Sr., who was shot in the torso and is in stable condition, and a 29-year-old man whose name wasn’t announced but is in critical condition.

The gunshots rang out during the fourth quarter and caused chaos as students and parents evacuated the stands after cheerleaders and players started freaking out and running off the field. One man was shot and took to the hospital by his friend and the other was brought to a hospital by helicopter that landed on the field.

The suspects are still on the run but police at least know that both of the suspects are black males and were wearing baggy T-shirts at the game. Both men used handguns. Nothing else has come out about the suspects and their reasons for targeting the two men.

The shooting is still being classified as just a shooting and not as a school shooting because both victims were targeted instead of just randomly being shot. Police still don’t know why they were targeted but witnesses have come out saying that a fight had broke out earlier in the game.

This is causing worry to students and teachers across the nation because of the Parkland shooting. The school shooting that happened last year on the 14th of February, left 17 people dead. The shooting that occurred this previous Friday has no relation to the Parkland shooting that happened last school year.
