Gators Continue 1-1 in Series with Bowling Green

Gators play at home against the Bowling Green Purples.

April 25, at 6 pm, the Greenwood Baseball Team played Bowling Green in the second game of the three-game series. The Gators started out strong, with a strikeout from junior Mac Ausbrooks to end the first inning. Ausbrooks also had a home run in the third inning over the left-field wall.

Cade Thornton, a freshman, had a fantastic two-run triple to right field in the fourth, and John Hicks, senior, also hit a great ball, but it was unfortunately caught by the Purples. A grand total of eight runs were scored in the first four innings by the Gators.

Gators up 8-0 in the fourth inning.

However, Bowling Green realized that in order to stay in the game, they needed to fight back. In the fifth inning, the Purples scored four runs, with the help of two well-placed hits. To their dismay, this would be all the runs they would score.

The final score of the game was 8-4 in Greenwood’s favor. It was a good comeback win over Tuesday’s loss at Bowling Green where the Purples won the first game of the series 2-1. The final game will be tonight at the Swamp.

Senior Night will be Saturday, April 28, at the Corey Hart Ballpark. Six seniors will be recognized: Dakota Ford (#25), Ryan Wheeler (#10), Colton Jones (#6), Adam Schneller (#2), Nate Cunningham (#12), John Hicks (#35).
