Pit Bulls are not monsters!

Pit Bulls are not monsters!

By Brittany Johnson, Editor

Most people look at scientific studies for answers to define a breed of dogs, but I think animals should be judged on their personalities, just like humans. Why do we think the dogs are the monsters, when humans make Pit Bulls these monsters?  Are humans monsters? Humans, along with dogs, react to the way they were raised. I think humans are the monsters here, forcing Pit Bulls to fight and beating them; it’s all they ever knew to do. A example of how owner treat these dogs is that some people breed Pit Bulls to fight other dogs; these dogs are very dangerous to their owners. These owners make the dogs fight for their lives. This Is  similar to how some people were raised around violence, so the way they react to a situation is violent. Some of the Pit Bulls that are beaten or mistreated love humans more than anything.

From my experience, Pit Bulls are the only dogs that have ever treated me as I treated them. I was never afraid that Pit Bulls would hurt me; they are the sweetest things. My dog, when around a baby or child, will not leave the baby’s side. It might concern you to see the Pit Bull protecting the baby, but Pit Bulls should not act in violence, they will know who you are and trust you. Also, Pit Bulls have passed the ATTS(American Temperament Test Society) test, a test to determine the temperaments of each breed of dogs, with a better score than Great Danes and Greyhounds, among others. People don’t hear about smaller dog biting people, but it happens more frequently. At einhorninsurance, Dori Einhorn stated, “According to the American Temperament Test Society (2010-2011), 804 American Pit Bull Terriers were tested and 695 passed.  This means that 86.4% of Pit Bulls tested by the ATTS had a good temperament.  Pit Bulls pass rating was above 121 other breeds of dogs, including Golden Retrievers!”

Pit Bulls are the most misunderstood dogs and my dogs are the sweetest and are very disciplined. From my point of view, you have to let dogs know you are in charge, and not let them call the shots, but don’t take it too far. Some people say that Pit Bulls have different skills than other dogs, but that is a myth. Pit Bulls’ jaws do not lock, contrary to popular belief. However, they do have one trait difference: Pit Bulls have determination. Pit Bulls, from my experience, always love people unless trained to do otherwise by their owner. Humans are the monsters here; don’t blame the dog. Pit Bulls are getting banned from a lot of states, but I will never give up my dog. It’s cruel, how could we make such a beautiful dog go extinct?
