Police investigate serial bombings in Austin, TX

Adding to the seemingly never ending catastrophes that the United States is facing, a series of bombs exploded throughout this month in Austin, Texas.

The first of the bombs was delivered to a home on March 2 in the middle of the night, killing a man when he went to retrieve it that morning.

On March 12, two bombs were left at two different houses in the middle of the night. One of the victims was severely injured by the bomb when she picked it up at about 11:50 that morning. The other victims opened the package in their kitchen at about 6:45 that morning, and when detonated, it seriously injured the mother of the household and killed her son.

The next incident took place on March 8, on a sidewalk, when a trip wire was set up by yet another package bomb. After the explosion, two men were severely injured.

On March 20, two bombs were discovered at two separate FedEx locations. Of the two, only one exploded. This explosion took place in San Antonio, however it was addressed to Austin. The other bomb was in Austin, but was discovered before it had the chance to be set off.

The same day the last bomb exploded the suspected serial bomber, Mark Anthony Conditt, blew himself up in his car as the police closed in on his location. An officer at the scene had fired at him at the same time making it unclear if it was the bomb or the gunfire that killed Conditt.

Mark Anthony Conditt has been the suspected bomber for quite some time, having his car, his phone, and video surveillance linking him to the crimes. Authorities also found a confession on Conditt’s phone after his death.

Conditt’s confession included details about his personal life that had led him to commit these crimes, however authorities have still not come to a conclusion on an official motive. Authorities are also still on the lookout for more potential bombs that may have been planned before Conditt’s death.
