One Dead in School Shooting

On Wednesday, March 7, what was deemed an accidental shooting, took place at Huffman High School.  The school is located in Birmingham, Alabama.

Only two students were hit by the gunfire and were both rushed to the hospital.  A 17-year old girl was pronounced dead, and a 17-year old boy was treated for his injuries and released.  

Police Chief Orlando Wilson commented on the incident. “This is not a situation where someone came in and randomly fired from the outside.” It has been confirmed that police are holding a person of interest, but have declined to give a name due to the lack of charges filed.

No other details are available at this time.  

UPDATE

The victim of this shooting was Courtlin Arlington.  She had been accepted to Concordia College and wanted to pursue a nursing career.
