Add Bonnaroo to Your Summer Bucket List
February 27, 2018
Bonnaroo is a popular music festival that takes place each year in Manchester, Tennessee, about a two-hour drive from Bowling Green. Every summer, thousands of people attend this four-day event to see their favorite artists perform. This year, the festival will be held from June 7-10, 2018.
Bonnaroo hosts more than 150 popular artists, including Eminem, The Killers, Muse, Khalid, Dua Lipa, Paramore, Bazzi, Future, and more. There are multiple stages and tents with different performances, all happening at once. Not only does the festival offer music performances, but it also has comedy acts, parades, yoga and wellness practices, races (The Roo Run), different projects that help you meet new people from across the country, talks about the environment and other important topics, beach volleyball, karaoke, etc.
It also includes various campgrounds that hold different types of attractions. The Little Cinema is a place that combines film, live music, dance, circus acts, and special effects all together for one great performance and experience for you. Another popular attraction is the Silent Disco, specifically designated for those who want to party and dance all night long. Everyone gets a pair of wireless headphones and gets to enjoy themselves for the night, while respecting the others around who need to catch up on sleep.
Speaking of sleep, Bonnaroo is a festival you are able to camp at, if you are staying longer than one day. Depending on the ticket purchased, there are different camping options available to you. Car camping is said to be the most popular camping option. All you do is bring your vehicle, and make sure to purchase a Car Camping Pass or Day Parking Pass for it.
Bonnaroo provides tents available for you to choose from as well. You can choose something simple, or a tent that is a little more fancy- whichever one accommodates to you and your friends. If camping isn’t really your thing, there are hotel and shuttle package options available.
Now to the important part, the food and drinks. There are multiple food trucks and vendors throughout the festival to satisfy your taste buds. They offer gourmet pizza, burgers, fish tacos, corn dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, Tennessee BBQ, local and organic foods, lemonade stands, and more.
To the bacon lovers reading this, there is an entire area with bacon/pork selections from across the country for you to try at Hamageddon and Bacon Land that’s at Bonnaroo. For those of you with a sweet tooth, Bonnaroo claims to have the best doughnuts you’ll ever try, as well as delicious ice cream and coffee stands.
Aside from the amazing lineup and artists who will be performing at the festival this year, it is overall a great experience and gives you the opportunity to meet new people from across the country.
A sophomore here at Greenwood, Ashley Patkovic, attended Bonnaroo in the summer of 2017. Here is what she had to say about her experience there:
“It was a great experience that I’ll never forget. I got to see so many of my favorite artists along with discovering new ones that I continue to listen to today. The people that you encounter are super accepting and nice. Definitely anything goes at Bonnaroo, you can wear and do anything that makes you happy and everyone will just encourage you to be yourself.”
So, what’re you waiting for? Go ahead, book your calendar and add Bonnaroo to your summer bucket list. You’re free to bring out your wild side without any judgement, while listening and dancing to over one hundred talented artists from all entertainment areas. Have fun and Go Roo!
