Greenwood raises money for Connor Sheehan Memorial Scholarship

On Saturday, February 17, in Greenwood’s cafeteria, at 10:00 am, Greenwood band boosters will be hosting a fundraising event for the Connor Sheehan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship has been created with the intention of aiding band students at Greenwood.

The fundraising event will include concessions, small business booths, several vendors, and a silent auction. All of the booth fees, the profits made off of the silent auction, and a portion of the profits that vendors make will be donated to the scholarship fund.

The scholarship is expected to be available to band students this year, in honor of Connor Sheehan, who participated in Drumline and played the Trombone in Greenwood’s Marching and Concert Band before passing away in a car accident in November of 2017. The scholarship will continue as long as there are profits in the scholarship fund, so it is important to show up on Saturday and show your support.

Jennifer Gibbs, the woman who organized the fundraising event, offers some ways that students may become more involved in the fundraising event. “They can show up on Saturday. They are welcome to bring signs to hang up or just come and show their love, show their support, talk about Connor. We would just love to have any Greenwood students that would be willing to come out. We would love to have them there on Saturday.”
