FFA Week Celebrates Farm Life

FFA Week Celebrates Farm Life

By Anna Scifres

FFA Week is next week (Feb. 19-23) and everyone knows what that means: animals in the hallways and tractors in the parking lot. FFA Week is a national practice, not something Greenwood decides to do. On Monday, the Warren County Representative will sign a proclamation and it will officially be FFA Week in Bowling Green.

Every day will be a dress-up day next week. Feel free to post pictures of yourself and friends dressed for that day on social media and make sure to use #GwoodFFAWeek. By using the hashtag you get entered into a drawing for a gift card.

There will be photo booths set up every day and trivia for teachers and students. The days next week are as follows: Monday is Camo and Muddy Truck Day; Tuesday is Blue and Gold and Tractor Day; Wednesday is Dress Up Like a Farmer or Farm Animal Day; Thursday is Official Dress or Ag Promo Day; and Friday is ‘Merica Day.

As well as dress-up days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday will have other events going on. Tuesday is the FFA Pep Rally during SWAMP. The Pep Rally will kick off with two freshman reciting the FFA Creed, followed by a random drawing for two lucky teachers to kiss two little piglets.

Lastly, there will be the much-anticipated Lip Sync Battle between a male FFA team and a female FFA team, and male teacher team against the female teacher team. Everyone remembers last year’s where the female teachers won the battle by a landslide.

On Wednesday, there will be animals in the FFA hall. There will be goats, chickens, calves, a pig named Winnie owned by Hannah Neighbors, and two miniature horses, one named Tinkerbell being brought in by FFA President Lexi Stewart.

Friday is the FFA BBQ for those who wear Blue and Gold on Tuesday. You get to eat delicious food cooked by students and teachers in the Ag Shop instead of the cafeteria during your lunch period. Make sure you see Mr. Tipton or Mr. Goins to get your ticket on Tuesday! This week is sure to be full of fun activities.
