With Prom rapidly approaching and prom dress season having started, girls are searching for the perfect dress. While there are dress styles that have always been popular, there are many styles on the rise with 2018’s prom season.

One of the biggest differences everyone notices is the appearance of Prom Dress Rompers. They are made out of any material a prom dress could be made out of but instead of a skirt, it has long pants. Sherri Hill’s is the most well known example of this style. It will be interesting to see if anyone rocks the romper at GHS Prom 2k18.

Just like the romper, everything is about grabbing attention this year. Whether it’s beaded, boldly colored, or glittery, it will be sure to draw attention straight to the wearer.  Sherri Hill is on top of this wave of styles with Jovani, Morilee and Faviana following close behind.

Colors such as bright red, midnight blue, turquoise, yellow, emerald green and purple are popular choices for dresses. Bold floral prints are extremely popular among girls too. Following the normal fashion trend of this past year, velvet dresses have been produced by Jovani for those who wish to look and feel soft for their upcoming prom.

Styles are changing too. The most popular style of dress is Illusion. Most dresses in this style are very sophisticated looking, some even with long sleeves. They also incorporate plunging backs or cut outs to show a hint of skin. Two pieces, which made their debut a couple years ago, are still trending within the dress companies and customers.  Two pieces tend to go for more intricate tops, like lace or beading, and plain skirts.

The biggest problem for this prom season will not be finding a beautiful dress but, in fact, finding an affordable one. Many dresses cost between $200-$500. Luckily, two dedicated reporters have written an article dedicated to helping people save money when shopping for prom.
