Baseball Struggles Against East

By Alexa Davis

Greenwood played Warren East this week for their conference series. It all started on Monday when the Gators hosted East at home, where the team experienced growing pains while trying to work out kinks. The first inning was tied 3-3 with an even-looking match up, until the fifth inning. The final score was 14-4 in East’s favor. John Hicks led the team in batting with two RBI’s.

On Tuesday, Greenwood came in with a better plan of attack against the Raiders. They played on the neutral field at Bowling Green High, were East still pulled off a win over the Gators, 5-0, John Hicks had three plate appearances and two hits..

The final game of the series was at East, and Greenwood made many adjustments to prevent East from scoring, but couldn’t seal the deal. The final score was 3-0 in East’s favor, causing the Gators’ season record to be 5-18, 2-7 away.  For the article over this game click here.

Greenwood is still recovering from the loss of 15 seniors last year but is growing in every game they play. There is still hope for the season to turn around, and the team is working overtime to help the Gators earn a win to boost their confidence.
