By Helena Ysasaga, Reporter

The book was written by the author Lauren Oliver in 2010. Lauren Oliver is a successful author who has wrote books like, “Liesl & Po” and a Books series called, “Delirium Trilogy.” This year she published her newest book, “Vanishing Girls.” “Before I Fall” was rated a 4.1/5  from Barnes & Noble and a 3.9/5 from Good Reads. Author, Jay Asher, author of the New York Times bestseller “Thirteen Reasons Why.” Says, ”you’ll have no choice but to tear through the book!”

This book “Before I Fall” is about a high school teenage girl, Samantha Kingston. Who’s one of the most popular girls in school. She is the girl who every other girl in school wants to be. Then one day it all changes when she tragically dies. She then gets to relive her last day 7 times to uncover the mystery surrounding her death. She then realizes that the simplest choices can lead to into big situations. It’s a novel about love, death, and how one person’s life can affect so many others in life.

I noticed how in the book it shows realistic characteristics and events. The book is fulled of scenarios that we can all relate to in an everyday life, bullying, self-worth, and having fun in anytime of the day. The book shows how time is so precious and shouldn’t waste any second of it. “Maybe you can afford to wait. Maybe for you there’s a tomorrow. Maybe for you there’s one thousand tomorrows, or three thousand, or ten, so much time you can bathe in it, roll around in it, let it slide like coins through your fingers. So much time you can waste it. But for some of us there’s only today. And the truth is, you never really know.” This quote from the book shows that meaning.

I believe that the author’s purpose of writing this book was to show that life is short and bullying is wrong. I believe when the author did this is to encourage teens to live their life as much as they can because you never know when your time might come and your life will end in just a flash.

The author Intended to make this book for a more young adult audience. So I would definitely recommend this book for a high school student crowd. Showing the beauty of life and love and about how you should not spend anytime wasting it. Showing bad things lead to one another even if they are the simplest, they all have an ending.
In the book you realize how you should never take anything you have for granted, ever. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading teen fiction novels or reading in general too. This isn’t your typical teen fiction story,  from the start it gets you very interested and makes you want to read the book so much and the book keeps the topic alive throughout the entire storyline.
