You’ve probably heard the choir here a few times and may have wondered what it’s like in choir. This article aims to inform you about what it is like as a student in choir and how it is being a student.
Ms. Sells is the choir director here at Greenwood. She has been in choir since elementary school and has been loving it since. Sells said that she started teaching choir because, “I loved my choir experience in high school and music has always been a part of my life.”
Justine Hester is a junior at Greenwood and is a current member of the GHS Choir. She did it during 5th and 6th grade but joined back this year. Hester says that her favorite from being in choir was, “…Being able to collaborate with others to create beautiful music. My favorite moment is when we did blind karaoke and it was fun watching people sing.”
Spencer Mitchell is a junior at GHS. Mitchell has been in choir since sophomore year. Mitchell’s favorite moment was when they were about to have a concert and one of the students was wearing an “inappropriate” Hawaiian shirt for the men’s acapella group. He then was forced to perform without the shirt. Mitchell said he really likes singing, especially as a group of students and making music together.
In conclusion, choir is all about community and creativity, with inspiring leaders and fun experiences. It’s a great way to connect through music. If you’ve ever considered joining, now is the perfect time to get involved!
