Here at Greenwood High School, there are many clubs students can join. One of those clubs is the International Club. A student in the international club, Cung Cue, a freshman at Greenwood, hopes to have a great year in the program.
In the International Club, Cung Cue says responsibilities for the club are, “We make donations to charities, do fundraisers for the club, and meet new people and learn new cultures.” Being in the international club you can help out charities and do fundraisers for the club so you can do more fun activities and you can learn more about other cultures.
The way the International Club was created was Cung Cue said, “A teacher saw that a lot of her students had different cultures and might not have gotten along with each other so she created the club so students could meet each other and learn all about other cultures.” This is a great reason to create a club so that students can understand each other better.
Some students might be interested or want to join the international club. How are you? Cung Cue says, “During club rush you get handed a piece of paper where you write your name and sign explaining why you want to join the club, you then give the 15 dollars to the club rush leader during school.” So to join it you must give 15 dollars and sign your name. A benefit to being in the international club Cung Cue says “On club days during swamp you can go to the international club room and do the activities there Another benefit is being able to go on field trips and doing cool activities and learning others cultures.”
Why should you join the international club? Cung Cue answers this, “It is a fun experience since a lot of the students in the club are from other cultures and you probably won’t know most of them. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn about other cultures.” In international clubs it is very important to respect each other and their beliefs, Cung cue says “To be a part of it you must go to meetings and participate in activities and be respectful and kind to one another’s cultures and beliefs.” Cung Cue says being a part of the club is very easy since you just have to be responsible for going to meetings and following the rules.
Why should anyone join an international club? Cung Cue says, “It is always fun and very stress-free since being in the club is not hard. It is also great because being in a club can be beneficial for getting scholarships or just knowing more about other cultures.” This is why being in the international club can be great for learning more about cultures and scholarships.
Cung Cue says, “By the end of the school year, I’d like to see if I still want to keep being a part of the international club and I hope I can meet new people in the club and their unique cultures.”
