The International Club is a club here at Greenwood High School. This club is all about meeting new people, and learning about different cultures. Three people who are members and leaders of this club will fill you in on details, and their experience that you might want to know about.
The International Club consists of kids who all come from different backgrounds. To start off, Ciin, one of the members, got asked what interested her into joining the club? Ciin says “My friends interested me into joining the club.” Ciin friends were in the club first and talked her through on how the club was fun, and diverse. Being in a diverse group shows differences in what our cultures are. Moving on, Ciin talked about what she liked about the club? She replied “we all are diverse, and come together, and festivals are fun.” This club is all about diversity.
Next set of questions Ciin got asked was, what is one positive, and negative thing about the club? Ciin said, “There is nothing negative about this club since you can learn alot from this club. The positive thing would be diversity. I think when we all learn different cultures, religions, races etc. We are able to show respect.”
Ciin has been a member in this club for a year. She joined freshman year, and loved the club which persuaded her to join this year. Ciin friends motivated her to join the club, and also stated how the club was fun. Next, Ciin was asked what are some goals you hope to achieve or gain from your involvement in this club? Ciin reports that “A goal that I hope to achieve is to be more involved in helping out with the festivals.” Ciin does not really go to the festivals that are held annually.
Lastly, Ciin gives information about her involvement, and how she felt when she first joined the club. Ciin claims that, “I felt scared since I didn’t know many people there, but it wasn’t that bad once most people got comfortable talking to one another.” The International Club was one of the first clubs that Ciin had joined. She enjoys it very much, and said there is no negative thing about this club as long as you respect one another you won’t regret joining the club.

Next, the interviewed person is one of the sponsors/leaders of this International Club. The first question asked to Ms.Porter is what will this club be doing? “The club will celebrate all the countries that are represented at Greenwood” she replied. What kind of activities will be done in this club? She states, “There is a big event held in the spring called the International Festival where there will be singing, dancing, etc. In club meetings there will be guest speakers,crafts, and shows.” This event is held annually. People come together from different nations, and celebrate our differences.’
Next question being asked was what are some things that club members can take away from this club? “The club members can take away learning different cultures, food, and religion.” She stated “There will be field trips and heritage months held to represent countries such as African Heritage Month, Asian+Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Last but not least, the last person who got interviewed is Bawi Chin Par, Bawi joined the International Club last year in 2023. Bawi was asked “What was your experience like being in the International Club?” “I felt so much joy and felt included.” One thing that Bawi can take away from this club is it’s very diverse and learned about culture. Afterwards, Bawi was asked “What is an International Club like to you?” According to Bawi, “It felt like one whole family.” Bawi likes the events where potluck and the International Festival that is held. “Who motivated you into joining the International Club?” Bawi answered,” my curiosity led me to learn about everyone’s culture and differences.” Bawi felt very welcomed and comfortable with everyone around her.
