Have you ever wondered what the world of fantasy and imagination is? A place to feel included, well look no further because of the world of D&D. In the G&D club you’re free to let your imagination run wild, in this club they mainly play the game Dungeons and Dragons aka D&D. The interviewee Gabriel Echols a senior at Greenwood High School. Manny clubs require you to know some things before people join. The question is if there is anything about the club that those should know beforehand? Well, Echols stated that “ The club experts anyone wanting to join the club” and “ We’re very inclusive here”. Echols expressed that they play the D&D. In this game, most players’ decisions are based on a dice roll. For example, if the players wanted to persuade an NPC (non-playable character) into joining them, the players would need to roll for persuasion and if the players got the number the player needed or higher the player would succeed in convincing them.
In D&D there are two different types of players. First, there is the DM and then there are the players. The DM is the Dungeon Master who creates the situations the players are in. Usually, the DM will tell the players the rules, and what kind of world they will be working with. This is also where the players are briefed on what the mission is for that campaign (Gameplay). A player can go through and create a character that they will play as in the campaign, the players can create many different kinds of characters and customize what the players look based on what the player wants. It is also where the players pick a class that would determine their base role in the campaign. An example of this would be if the player wanted to become an elf (mythical creature) that was an archer the player could, or if a player wanted to become a human Knight. These statuses are usually recorded on paper/ a notebook to be able to look back on it. An example when starting a campaign they would set the setting and why the player’s characters are together aka their mission. Then the players would make their character’s backgrounds, race, and physical appearance. After that, the DM will give the players options on what the players could do in the setting that they are in. The player can also take a different route by doing something else.
In the G&D they form groups to participate in these games after school usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In the G&D there will be no fees because the club already has all the necessary tools to play the game with their members. In G&D they usually stay in relatively small groups but they plan to have big group sessions with multiple groups to play one big campaign, for A big event in the club. In this club they are inclusive to anyone wanting to join the world of D&D and are wanting to give it a shot, they are glad to have you.
