The Student Ambassador program is a great way to improve or learn new leadership skills. Some great leaders at the school who participate in this program are Charlotte Davis, Addison Bedi, and Ms Basham. These great leaders gave insight into the Student Ambassador program and how they’re working as a team to influence the school and the community around it.
The Student Ambassador program is a great way to get connected to the community and the school. The Student Ambassador program does lots of service based work for the school and the community. At the end of last year student Ambassadors, “Handed out feminine hygiene products in the bathrooms…” Ms Basham stated , “The club also made the digital suggestion box for students so they could anonymously report and provide feedback or concerns, which many people benefited from. Many students used the digital suggestion box and reacted positively to it.” Regular meetings are held with other schools in the county at the Chamber of Commerce in downtown Bowling Green. Guest speakers come and talk about their businesses, about leadership skills, and ways to be a better leader in the community and school. The Student Ambassador program is a great way to build connections with the community and other schools.
Student Ambassadors is a club for all grades, so anyone can join. Students who want to help out the community and the school should join Student Ambassadors because that is the main focus of the club. Students who are looking to grow their leadership skills should join Student Ambassadors. Ms Basham stated, “People who are interested in putting themselves out there, and if they aren’t very confident in talking to adults, or presenting in front of groups should join”. She also stated that students who are a true “Gator at heart and love the school” should absolutely join this club. There are no dues or fees to join but you do have to fill out an application form to join. There were 25 students in the Student Ambassador program last year. The maximum number of people who can join the club is 25 people, and the spots fill up fast. Many people enjoy this club. When asked what their favorite parts about the club Bedi told me that “It is a great opportunity to meet people. I made some really close friends in the club and havehas been able to meet new people who can help me plan my future.”. Davis stated that she liked the club because it’sits very “chill and lenient”. She likes it because it’s not super stressful and if you miss a field trip it’s not a big deal. Davis also stated she also likes how it’sits “A lot of just hanging out, talking and planning things”.
The sponsor for Student Ambassadors is GHS’s one and only Ms Basham. She has been the sponsor for Student Ambassadors for 2 years now. According to Ms Basham,“Other clubs have similar aspects to it such as leadership”. But Student Ambassadors is different in many ways.
The Student Ambassadors Program provides many great opportunities. There are many long lasting benefits such as making new friends, growing your leadership skills, and helping out the community and the school.
