During Club Rush 2024 at Greenwood High School, one of the many clubs you could have signed up for was FCA. FCA stands for Fellowship of Christian Athletes and it is a Christian club where they meet to talk about Jesus.
Mallory Jones, a graduate of GHS and a club sponsor, helps out with Southern Kentucky FCA and Greenwood’s FCA. She has grown in her relationship with God by being a part of FCA; furthermore, she has always been a part of the FCA club. Anyone can join the club, for it has no fees/dues and in her words, “There are no fees; Jesus is free.”
The club meets weekly in the mornings to have a Bible study and devotion time. They also meet once a month for club days. There is a leadership team that plans events and runs meetings made up of upperclassmen. More information about those meetings will be sent out in their Remind. The Remind app codes for both boys and girls can be provided by Coach Magan; moreover, Coach Magan is one of the FCA teacher sponsors.
Another member of the club, Katie Bradshaw (Grade 10), says her favorite part of FCA is being able to gather with fellow believers. She also enjoys getting to know others that are a part of the same faith, and she believes the positives to being in the club are being a part of the Southern Kentucky FCA where there are camps and more to participate in. She said,”Jesus is the most special”
A junior and Officer of the club, Ava Morrison said, “Just a 30 minute lesson or teaching can help you grow a lot.” She believes that the club helps you grow in your relationship with God. Being able to spread the “good news” in her school makes her love FCA. She has been working with the club to plan volunteering events at churches and more. They will be doing service projects like food drives, fundraisers, and more. More information is to come.
One thing they all agree upon is the fact that FCA brings together fellow believers, you can fellowship with your friends, and grow your faith with friends and others. They all believe that it is a great club that will help you develop your faith even further with the Lord.
