“A leader.” According to many from the Greenwood High School’s Football team, the best word to describe Gray Price, is leader. “He works hard physically and brings the team together; he’s a leader among the team,” says Aaron DeMarse. As said by Cooper Hines, “He is a leader, he’s always at practice no matter how he feels.” To no surprise, when asked by some of our Gator Football players, Gray Price was voted best fit for the title of MVP.
Gray Price is a senior here at Greenwood High School. According to Gray, he’s been playing football since he could walk. #45 for Greenwood, Price has been on the Greenwood team since the 9th grade. Linebackers are leaders of defense. They are the main tacklers and run defenders on the team. That’s the position Price plays. “I play on defense, I try to stop people from scoring. If the running back gets the ball I try tackling the running back, if they’re passing I try to intercept the ball,” he explains. Like said by Henry Hines, Gray is very “tough.” His position requires him to give his all and work really hard, “He’s one of the most aggressive players on the team,” says #50 Tucker Oliver.
His biggest inspiration growing up was his father. “My inspiration was my dad,” says Price. Price’s father is the one who helped him discover a passion that would follow him all throughout his high school years. However, to the players on Greenwood’s team, Price can be the one who’s role model for them. His leadership and hard work is clear to everyone on the team. “He’s strong, a good player, and a good person,” says Bowen Monroe. “Family,” is how Price describes his team. Being surrounded by a team of some of his best friends is what Price loves most about playing football. It creates a friendly environment and more motivation to work harder.
Without question, Price is a very strong and powerful player on the team. His leadership and strive for success is what makes him fit for MVP. Next time you come to a game, keep a lookout for Gray Price running on the field.
