Student Council Cooking Up Bonfire Plans

By Sera Ryherd, Reporter

The Student Council is a group of students elected by their peers to address issues of concern and organize student events and activities. Mrs. Gupton and Mrs. McGinty are the sponsors for Student Council.

At the first meeting of Student Council, they planned club rush and all the events that will happen this year.

One of those big events is a huge bonfire  to help improve school culture. The bonfire is October 25  from 5 to 8 p.m. There are plans for food trucks, trunk or treat, s’mores, and more.

The Student Council regularly meets every Tuesday morning. About six or seven freshman have applied to join the Student Council later this year.

Student Councils have many goals they want to accomplish this year. They want the school to be more fun and more enjoyable so kids won’t dread getting up in the morning. They want kids to come to school and have fun.

They also want to help bring more culture into the school. They are in charge of the winter formal, field day, and pep rallies: the craziest, loudest events ever here at Greenwood.

They will take a field trip later in the year for team-building and to plan field day.
