Three Students to Millions: See You at the Pole History

Three Students to Millions: See You at the Pole History

By Maria Dodson, Reporter

28 years ago, 10 students went to a DiscipleNow weekend – a student ministry weekend – in Burleson, Texas and felt God move in them.  They felt compelled to drive to three different schools and pray at the flagpoles for their friends, schools, and leaders.

What started as simple act of devotion soon led to a movement across the nation, eventually spreading to places like Canada, Japan, and Turkey.  This movement was given the name See You at the Pole.  Now millions of students around the world join together, praying for their family, friends, teachers, school, and nation before school on the fourth Wednesday of September.

Churches like Hillvue Heights, Central Christian, and First Baptist Church of Porter Oklahoma have started participating in this event, holding “after parties:” leading in worship, prayer, and fellowship.

I hope to See YOU at the Pole before school on Wednesday, September 26.
