Mac Miller Dies of Apparent Overdose
September 10, 2018
On September 7, 2018, the rapper and producer, Mac Miller, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose in his San Fernando Valley home. Miller was just 26 years old. The rapper spoke publicly about his struggles with addiction. Fans speculate that Miller died of an accidental overdose.
Miller was supposed to eventually start tour in October. As a young kid, Miller taught himself the guitar and the drums and also took piano lessons, and eventually started to rap at the age of 14. At the age of 15, he performed a duo with his friend Brian Benjamin Green. He admired other hip-hop artists like Big L and A Tribe Called Quest.
In his latest music video for the song “Self Care,” from his latest album “Swimming,” Miller is lying in his own coffin, smoke from a cigarette puffing out of his mouth, and carving the words “Memento Mori,” which means an object that is a reminder of death such as a skull.
Many celebrities such as Wiz Khalifa, Post Malone, and Diplo paid their respects through social media. Ariana Grande, Miller’s late girlfriend, shared a black and white picture on Instagram of Miller looking up at the camera with Grande’s tennis shoes between his legs.
Grande later disabled the comments when fans began blaming her for the death of Miller.
