The 2018 SOKY Book Fest is this weekend, starting Friday and ending Saturday. It’s taking place at the Carol Knicely Conference Center and several authors will be in attendance such as CJ Redwine and Mary Weber. There will be many workshops for young writers to participate and advance their skills. Workshops include “Fight Scenes 101” and “First Pages Critique Workshop”. In the description for “Fight Scenes 101,” Alisha Klapheke will demonstrate self-defense maneuvers and how to write convincing fight scenes. At different times of the day, there will be multiple panels of authors answering questions about a specific topic or a workshop with an author. Such panels are “Far out Fantasy” or “Murder, They Wrote”. The panels will have five to six authors who are all well qualified to talk and answer questions about the topic.

You will also have the chance to meet some of the authors and have your favorite books signed by them, the only stipulation is that you must purchase the books at the Book Fest to have them signed. Friday is Children’s and Teen’s day while Saturday is when all the panels and workshops will be happening. For book lovers and writers of all ages, this is an incredible opportunity to participate in.
