We’d like to kick off our Pet of the Week section by honoring a legendary dog named Griff. This Great Pyrenees dog was found, abandoned, by Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society worker Elizabeth Cooper, with a total of eight bullet wounds throughout his body, as well as a broken leg. Cooper adopted him during his recovery, and eventually decided to make him a permanent addition to her family. In order to pay for Griff’s medical treatment, Cooper reached out to the Internet for support. Donors responded generously, raising enough money to not only pay for Griff’s treatment, but that of other dogs as well. Griff eventually passed away peacefully on December 29, having been in the Cooper household for almost seven months, but his legacy, the impact of his life on the lives of other dogs and humans, lives on.
