A Legacy Comes to an End
February 21, 2018
United States Olympic athlete, Lindsey Vonn, competed in her last downhill race on February 20, 2018. The skier is 33 years old and was taught to ski by her grandfather at an extremely young age. Pyeongchang will mark her fourth Olympic appearance.
The 2018 Winter Olympics gave Vonn her third Olympic medal, winning the bronze in downhill skiing. In 2010, she won the gold in downhill skiing and the bronze in the super-G. She is now the oldest woman to win an Alpine medal at the Olympics.
Vonn has been the standard for downhill for a long time, and she will continue to be the role-model that hopeful skiers look up to. Vonn posted on Twitter, “Today I won a bronze medal that felt like gold. It was an amazing day that I will never forget. Thank you to everyone who supported me and helped me get to this point. Love you all.”
